Plan B

Plan B also known, as the morning after pill, is a birth control pill that can prevent pregnancy after unprotected sex. It can reduce your chances of getting pregnant by 89%. The sooner you take it the more it’s effective, if it is taken within 24 hours, it is 95% effective. Girls seventeen and older can purchase this product over the counter, but girls younger than seventeen are required to have a prescription. The decision for Plan B to only to sold to girls seventeen and older has recently been changed.
When scientist approves something to be safe and effective it’s the FDA’s job to allow it to be sold over-and-counter. Plan B has been proven safe and effective by scientist but Kathleen Seblius has over ruled the decision for Plan B to be sold over counters. She disagrees with the decision for this drug to be solder counters. She has restricted it from all teens under the age of seventeen. Obama agrees with Seblius’s decision, he believes it is best to keep the age restrictions for the drug so that it won’t be getting used improperly.
I believe that if Plan B was to be sold over the counter to teens 16 and younger it would be a bad decision. I believe this because if younger teens knew they had access to this produce some would abuse it. Also, they could get this produce without their parents’ permission. For example, the produce could encourage them in the wrong way; of thinking that if they have unprotected sex they don’t have to deal with the consequences for doing it.
